Week of September 13

Welcome to my weekly letter, where I share a few noteworthy articles and my own commentary. Without further ado…

Weekly Read

  • The Chinese content farms behind Factory TikTok (restofworld.org) – the learning from this article can be expanded further: almost anything on Tiktok/social media is probably some type of content production that’s intended to grab your attention… they can be good entertainment, but not something to be taken too seriously…
  • From K-Pop stan to keyboard warrior: Meet the activists battling Myanmar’s military junta (restofworld.org) – this helps to remind that most of us are in a privileged position, not needing to worry [too much] about our freedom or the future prospect… I hope all of these people on the report are OK from the military regime (junta) that’s taken over the country. (a quick Google search suggests they are still deeply in conflict)
  • The Games Done Quick Marathon Is More Important Than Ever (Wired) – expected: speedrun and video gaming became more popular since the beginning of COVID19 pandemic; unexpected: no mentioning of Breath of the Wild speedrun??
  • How Lego Perfected the Recycled Plastic Brick (Wired) – bravo to Lego driving this green effort, I’d like to add just one ‘feature request’ to the future Lego bricks: is it possible to also make it less painful when accidentally stepped on them?

That’s it for this week! Have a nice weekend!

Stay Tuned…
