What I’ve Been Up To In March

As the weather warms up, me and my family spent some nice time integrating back into society. We went shopping, bowling, enjoyed icy deserts, and day-trip to Napa and San Francisco… The masking mandates dropped in March, but we continue to insist on wearing them in-door as the 4 years old is still not vaccinated yet, and the BA.2 Omicron subvariant caused some concerns at the global scope. The Russian-Ukranian conflict dragged on, causing countless lives lost on both sides, millions of people displaced, and the global scale hyperinflation… As I mentioned last month, my heart goes to all the people impacted by this crisis. Hope peace and safety will return soon.

Here are the things that kept me busy this past month, aside from the day-to-day ‘job’ related stuff…

Creating and hacking stuffs

  • Game dev – The game ‘Qin’: I spent the whole month implementing touch control. I set a fairly high bar to implement a floating joystick control (instead of just fixed joystick, or even worse, fixed directional buttons), so that dragged the time longer. Yet I am happy that I was able to get it done, with some bugs 😉
  • Drawing – I continue to develop my skill and style, for both drawing and calligraphy. I am happy to see that my art started to change style, taking a voice by itself…

  • Writings
  • Merch Store – yeah… no update here, but please do check it out

Consuming Stuffs

  • Reading – continuing slowly on the Chinese history epic ‘帝國前夕’ (東周); finished the awesome book ‘Essentialism: The Disciplined Pursuit of Less‘ by Greg McKeown (highly recommended for anybody, individual or business person! It’s really a must read, I wish I’d read it 10 years earlier.)
  • Gaming – finished ‘Prince of Persia‘, love the game, also its very interesting ending.
  • TV/Movies – finished Doom Patrol (it’s oddly fun and weirdly appealing… 8/10); watched the first 2 episodes of Euphoria (wow, a lot more sex, drugs, and nudity than I anticipated… What else is there in the show?! Oh, interesting characters and stories too, but dang, a lot of sex, drugs and nudity… lol); re-watched Batman Begins with my teenage son, after we watched The Batman at the local theater. (both highly recommended!)

If you really finished reading the above, I thank you, and wish that my sharing would either entertain you, or inspire you (if you’ve been thinking about your own creative projects).
