Welcome to my weekly letter, where I share a few noteworthy articles and my own commentary. Without further ado…
Weekly Read
- How water shortages are brewing wars (BBC) – as we visited a related topic a while ago, the world needs a massive effort into water recycling, starting with some regions in the world that’s impacted by extreme heat and severe drought.
- An Explosion in Geofence Warrants Threatens Privacy Across the US (Wired) – Google’s report provides a quantifiable reason for us to consider disabling location sharing on our phones. Next up, QR code (the action of scanning it) can also potentially expose your private location history.
- You can post LinkedIn jobs as almost ANY employer — so can attackers (BleepingComputer) – FYI for companies that use Linkedin to post jobs… double check the listings to ensure nothing fishy going on.
- China’s digital yuan is a warning to the world (Wired) – with China government’s leading position on digital currency, more countries may be following its steps to release digital US dollars or digital Euros; then there’s cryptocurrency becoming less volatile (bitcoin now has an ETF… for what it’s worth…) as well as all the stablecoins. The next 5-10 years is going to be an interesting time for currency exchange as well as payment space.
That’s it for this week! Have a nice weekend!
