Welcome to my weekly letter, where I share a few noteworthy articles and my own commentary. Without further ado…
Weekly Read
- This Agency Wants to Figure Out Exactly How Much You Trust AI (Wired) – if we have reached singularity, our AI friend would explain that the more we analyze this, the more distrust is signified. It would point its digitally transcended finger at us and accuse us of ‘analysis paralysis’ and call us cowards for not being able to take a leap of faith. Maybe arrange a relationship counselor for a therapy session… BUT we are not there yet. 🙂
- This AI Could Help Wipe Out Colon Cancer (Wired) – Validating the point above for our current relationship with AI, yes, it can do more and more cool things, yet it’s staying at the phase as a ‘helpful backseat driver’. For sure not the driver.
- A Global Smart-City Competition Highlights China’s Rise in AI (Wired) – As a country where government surveillance is expected and censorship of expresssion is norm, China has positioned itself to leapfrog others in the realm of smart-city. Now that the technology is getting matured, it may be a good time to re-assess the question of ‘has the technology make people’s life better, are people happier?’ (think the story of Wall.E and the people living on the ship Axiom…)
- China reveals secret programme of unmanned drone submarines dating back to 1990s (South China Morning Post) – another reporting showing China’s AI prowless, self-driving submarines, and even aircraft… In the 90’s? Don’t be surprised if the next report is about AI/machines ‘helping’ the government to make more babies and solve all GDP and aging population problem there~ (The Matrix, here we come!)
- Dynascore’s AI Music Engine Writes Tracks to Match Your Videos (Wired) – Coming back to today’s reality, it’s a delight to know that AI can help create music that syncs with all our awesome creative ideas on TikTok.
That’s it for this week! Have a nice weekend!
