Welcome to my weekly letter, where I share a few noteworthy articles and my own commentary. Without further ado…

Weekly Read

  1. Scientists Made a Nearly Invincible Lithium-Ion Battery (Wired) – energy and battery technologies continue to impress and pave the way for a more sustainable future. Can you believe it’s only been 4 years since the Samsung’s Note 7 news which brought battery safety issues to the forefront of our attention?
  2. The North Face Puts the Latest Road Running Tech on the Trail (Wired) – despite the controversy it has caused, it is great to see technical innovation continuing in apparel space. I mean, human being will continue to use those things called ‘feet’ right?

  3. U.S. Navy Has Patents on Tech It Says Will ‘Engineer the Fabric of Reality’ (Wired) – TL;DR for the click-baity headline: your tax money is not wasted, part of it goes to research on power/energy sources that sounded crazy yet peer reviewed to be plausible. (it’s not as crazy as it sounds). Now where is my Vibranium!?
  4. Nature Makes Wood. Could a Lab Make It Better? (Wired) – similar to recent energy tech to replace crude oil, gas, coal based energy, lab-grown plant material hopefully will be developed and productionized soon enough to replace the need to chop down trees. Would I then go back to paper books instead of Kindle? 😉

Have a nice weekend!
