Welcome to another monthly update, which is something I’m keeping exclusively on my site (instead of going to my Medium publication or other platforms). So without further ado, here are the things that kept me busy this past month, aside from the day-to-day ‘job’ related stuff…
Learning Stuffs
- Pixel Art Course: I continue to grind (the process is fun, but it does take a lot of time!) through the course. This time I’ve created a mock for a top-down game (can you guess what’s the story it’s based on?)
- Investment course: Another course that’s taking a long time. The course has a comprehensive list of investment topics, theorems and formulas about business/portfolio strategies and risks. In other words, I am re-learning a lot of math, while completely missing out on the r/WSB and $GME drama! 😀
- #EndlessLearning: on my journey to learn all things that interest me, this month I’ve completed two courses on Udemy – Business and Corporate Strategy and Copywriting.
Creating and hacking stuffs

- My Medium publication is now the 2nd home of my creative output, as I continue to add content and improvement. This month, I’ve changed the weekly newsletter by adding a more focused commentary section. Also separated out the ‘Nostalgic Game Review’ into a separate column, as well as my sketching projects. Check it out!
- I’ve also put together a content production schedule to make sure my creative output doesn’t get in the way with other parts of my life.
Consuming stuffs
- Reading: I finished reading two books this month:
- How to Win Friends and Influence People – my wife recommended this book a long time ago and I finally read through it. While it definitely has some rough corners accurately noted in wikipedia, there are still a lot of great advice / reminders that’s staying true even today.
- Dorothy Must Die – this is my goddaughter’s recommendation, knowing that I love this type of story, giving the well-known fairy tales interesting twists. It was a bit tough for me to get into at the beginning, but it gets better after half way through, and then better 🙂
- Gaming
- I almost finished this game that’s been sitting on my 2015 Shield TV: Trine 2. It is a beautiful side scrolling action game, and the studio went on to make a 3rd (which flopped as they tried too hard to twist the gameplay) and 4th installments (which returns to improve on the gameplay as in 1st and 2nd games, thus was well received). I finished the main quest but in half way through the extended ending, the system somehow lost my save data. 🙁
- Continue to play Rise of The Tomb Raider @ 56% now. I am really not a perfectionist, but I set a goal to hit at least 90% completion for every map region.
If you really finished reading the above, I thank you, and wish that my sharing would either entertain you, or inspire you (if you’ve been thinking about making some creativity projects happen.) Until next time!
